More Time in the Day?
Seismic sensors in Mexico City detected what was reported to be a small earthquake late Sunday morning. However experts were quick to confirm that the sensors had been triggered in an artificial manner probably because of 'mass jumping' as the population celebrated the shock 1-0 win over Germany in the first round of the football World Cup.
In contrast, Osaka, Japan was rocked by a strong earthquake this morning killing 3 people and injuring more than 200, whilst Guatemala was hit by a quake measuring 5.6 just weeks after suffering a catastrophic volcanic eruption. So is seismic activity increasing? Some scientists believe so and claim it is down to the the slowing down of the Earth's rotation. However before we get too excited about the slowing down of time, scientists went on to explain that this periodic phenomenon can result in fluctuations of up to one millisecond a day. Not sure that is going to have much impact on time management targets!
