As temperatures continue to rise across most of the UK, the Met Office have issued an amber 'heat health watch' warning as the South East of England braces itself for the hottest day of the year so far. The amber warning is issued when temperatures are predicted to hit 30C during the day and 15C at night for at least 2 consecutive days. People are urged to avoid being in the sun when it is at its strongest between 11 am and 3 pm in addition to taking the usual precautions in the sun, including covering up, wearing sun screen and drinking plenty of water.
With forecasters suggesting that the hot weather could last for at least another 4 weeks it can be all too easy to relax into holiday mode and lose focus on more mundane matters such as tax. So in order to avoid red faces for whatever reason here is a quick alert for all those on self assessment, that midnight on 31 July is the deadline for the second payment on account.
